چکیده
Tick-borne encephalitis virus (TBEV) is the etiologic agent of tick-borne (TBE) and transmitted by Ixodes ricinus (Linnaeus, 1758) in Europe. The geographical distribution I. Palearctic region covers also northern Africa, including northwestern Tunisia. While eco-epidemiology TBE Europe well documented, no data concerning TBEV from Africa are available. We investigated whether circulating A total 877 adult collected Tunisia were examined pools for presence nRT-PCR. Viral RNA was detected one pool three engorged ticks, yielding a minimum infection rate 0.11 % (1/877). Phylogenetic analysis showed that Tunisian strain belongs to European lineage. report first time Africa. Therefore, more studies needed assess public health importance

diagnosed cases ranged from July 20 to October 4, 2009. Cases peaked in early September and subsided in early October. The median age of patients with confi rmed or probable disease was 47.3 years (range 3–96 years). Infections occurred in all age groups, but most infections occurred among persons 41 to 65 years of age; 118 (60.2%) were women, and 172 were farm workers. Confi rmed and clinicall...
متن کاملCleavage in Ixodes ricinus (L.) (Acari: Ixodidae).
The author analyzed the first 5 days of embryonic development of Ixodes ricinus. The cleavage takes 4 days, being terminated on the 5th day of embryogenesis, when the cells start to invaginate and differentiate. The karyomeres play a role in the initial mitotic divisions. Cellularization occurs on the 2nd and 3rd day of embryogenesis. The blastoderm cells maintain their potential for division, ...
متن کاملPrevalence of Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato in Ixodes ricinus ticks (Acari, Ixodidae) in different Polish woodlands.
In 1996-1998, a total of 2285 Ixodes ricinus ticks (1063 nymphs, 637 males, 585 females) were collected from vegetation from 25 different localities in the 8 Polish provinces throughout the country. Ticks inhabited all 25 collection sites. The average number of ticks per collection site was 91.4 +/- 13.7. All 2285 ticks were examined for Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato (s.l.) presence, of which...
متن کاملA new tick-borne encephalitis-like virus infecting New England deer ticks, Ixodes dammini.
To determine if eastern North American Ixodes dammini, like related ticks in Eurasia, maintain tick-borne encephalitis group viruses, we analyzed ticks collected from sites where the agent of Lyme disease is zoonotic. Two viral isolates were obtained by inoculating mice with homogenates from tick salivary glands. The virus, which was described by reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction ...
متن کاملIsolation and Characterization of New Polymorphic Microsatellite Markers for the Tick Ixodes Ricinus (acari: Ixodidae)
Nine microsatellite markers were isolated from unfed larvae of Ixodes ricinus and were tested on two populations of nymphs collected on roe deer (N=21) and birds (N=39) in a French suburban forest. All markers were polymorphic, with limited evidence for deviations from linkage equilibrium. In accordance with previous markers developed for this species, we found large heterozygote deficits for s...
